Ethiopian Airlines, the national state-owned airline, currently employs over 18,000 aviation specialists and operates a fleet of 145 airplanes soaring through 135 international destinations.
Flagship carrier Ethiopian Airlines has announced the graduation of 627 aviation professionals from the Ethiopian Civil Aviation University.
Graduates included 88 aspiring pilots, 125 aircraft maintenance technicians, 150 flight attendants, and 264 commercial specialists, according to the company.
Kassy Yimam, Vice President of the academy, speaking at the ceremony, took pride in the diverse talents taking off from the university runway.
"This celebration marks our second graduation within this fiscal year after July, following a landmark achievement of 1,551 aviation professionals on August 5, 2023," he told local media.
For his part, Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mesfin Tasew recalled the importance of human capital for the airline's growth and pledged to continue providing aviation professionals for Africa.
"We will continue to provide Africa with skilled aviation professionals through the training and professional development services we provide at our center of excellence," Tasew remarked as quoted by media.
Ethiopian Airlines is the number one airline in the skies of Africa in terms of passengers carried, destinations served, fleet size, and revenue.
In late November, the company announced the opening of six new international destinations in the coming months, including two African destinations.
