CAIRO (Sputnik) - On Thursday, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres suggested a similar initiative, saying that the values of Ramadan must prevail and referred to the Islamic principle of empathy and generosity and the need to "share and care," particularly with the poor and needy, during the month of Ramadan.
The parties to the conflict in Sudan may declare a ceasefire after the visits to Libya before the start of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, acting Foreign Minister for Libya's Government of National Unity, Taher Al-Baour, told Sputnik.
"The parties agreed that it is necessary to declare a ceasefire and start the delivery of humanitarian aid. I hope that this will be announced in the next two days before the month of Ramadan. We are trying to make it [the ceasefire] come before Ramadan," Al-Baour said, adding that Libya could help solve the crisis in Sudan or stop the violence in the country.
