ADDIS ABABA (Sputnik) - In July 2023, during the Second Russia-Africa Summit in St. Petersburg, Russia and Uganda signed an agreement on the construction of a nuclear power plant.
Uganda is discussing cooperation with Russia in the oil sector and nuclear energy, Ugandan Foreign Minister Jeje Odongo told Sputnik.
"We are now in discussions with Russia on how we can work in our oil industry. They are examining how they can assist us to build the oil refinery," Odongo said on the sidelines of the African Union summit in Addis Ababa.

He also added that the countries are discussing cooperation in the development of other energy sources, including nuclear.
"We have uranium deposits, and we are discussing how we can work together to exploit those resources," Odongo said.
