The agreement was signed during the second Russia-Africa Summit and Economic and Humanitarian Forum held in Russia's St Petersburg on July 27-28. Sputnik is the official media partner of the event.
Uganda and Russia have agreed to build a nuclear power plant, Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni said at a meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the Russia-Africa forum.
He also noted the great potential in the production of phosphates and ammonia, and invited Russian companies to participate in this production.
Museveni expressed his country’s eagerness to cooperate with Russia in the production of electric batteries, outlining that Uganda is rich in lithium, rare earth metals, and other raw materials.

The president also stated that the collaboration in this field will be a good investment for the Russian side.
In his turn, during the meeting with his Ugandan counterpart on 27 July, Vladimir Putin stated that the two nations stand in solidarity on international issues, in particular, on the formation of a just multipolar world.
"Russia and Uganda stand in solidarity in the international arena, which are based on a common commitment to the formation of a just multipolar world," he said.
