UNITED NATIONS (Sputnik) - The interview between the Russian president Vladimir Putin and US journalist Tucker Carlson last week covered various significant topics including the Ukraine conflict, Nord Stream sabotage, Russia-NATO relations, artificial intelligence, and more. It gained immense global attention.
The interview of American journalist Tucker Carlson with Russian President Vladimir Putin was a breakthrough and Americans can see something else other than the standard narrative, Chair of the US Delegation to the World Youth Festival, Caleb Maupin, said.

"If you look at how important that interview that Tucker Carlson was able to do with the Russian president was it was a tremendous breakthrough," Maupin said in a briefing at the UN on Thursday. "Because that will be the only time that American young people will ever hear anything other than the standard American media line about the war in Ukraine."

Last week, the Russian president sat down for an interview with Carlson, discussing the Ukraine conflict, the Nord Stream sabotage, Russia-NATO relations, artificial intelligence, and other topics. The interview has attracted huge interest around the world. The video has been viewed 201 million times on X. On YouTube, the video has been viewed over 16.8 million times.
Prior to the interview release, Carlson faced criticism from his Western colleagues for the very fact of sitting down with the Russian leader.
World Youth Festival will take place in Sochi from March 1– 7, 2024. Organizers are expecting, that over 20,000 Russian and foreign experts in sports, media, social projects, science, and other areas will participate in the meeting. Sputnik is an official media partner of the event.

Members of the US delegation expect to have 15 representatives for the World Youth Festival in Sochi, Russia, Chair of the US Delegation to the World Youth Festival.
"We have 15 Americans total at the festival," Maupin told reporters during a press briefing at the United Nations on Thursday.
He also did not rule out that there would be several older, not young, Americans who would be participating in the forum as invited speakers. Maupin stressed that there would be several delegations from European states, but he did not provide details.
The head of the US team warned that three of its members – Omali Yeshitela, Penny Joanne Hess, and Jesse Nevel were already indicted for allegedly spreading so-called "Russian propaganda."
"We, are prepared for US government harassment. We expect such arrests," he said.
The indictment, imposed by the US Department of Justice almost a year ago, is a clear violation of the fundamental freedoms, Maupin added.
"This indictment should be a deep concern to any values of freedom of speech, freedom of the assembly, and democratic traditions our country is known for," he said.
The festival represents a chance to start a dialogue and search for mutual understanding regardless of nationality, political views, or cultural peculiarities, according to its website.
