Russia Remains Open to Diplomatic Solution of Ukrainian Crisis, Lavrov Says

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - On Wednesday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov answered the questions from the members of the lower house of the Federal Assembly of Russia, State Duma.
Russia remains open to a diplomatic settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, taking into account the realities on the ground, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Wednesday. However, in view of the West's current position, there are no options for an agreement on Ukraine, the minister added.
"We remain open to a political and diplomatic settlement, taking into account our legitimate interests, taking into account the realities that have developed over many years and which have now led to the current situation," Lavrov said, adding that the West shows no interest in paying attention to these facts and the existing realities.
Earlier, in an interview with the US journalist Tucker Carlson, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that the operation in Ukraine will ultimately end in an agreement, and that with time, relations will heal, however, Russia will fight for its interests to the end.
Western countries have been providing military and financial aid to Kiev since the start of Russia's special military operation in Ukraine in February 2022. The Kremlin has consistently warned against continued arms deliveries to Kiev, saying it would lead to further escalation of the conflict.
