WASHINGTON (Sputnik) - On Monday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said that it had carried out strikes on "terror targets" in the Shaboura area of the city of Rafah, killing at least 100 people and injuring 230, according to the media.
Jordanian King Abdullah II said on Monday that an Israeli attack on the Gazan city of Rafah would create another humanitarian catastrophe in the region, and the situation is already "unbearable" for over a million people.
"We cannot afford an Israeli attack on Rafah. It is certain to produce another humanitarian catastrophe and the situation is already unbearable for over a million people who have been pushed into Rafah since the war started," King Abdullah II told reporters at the White House.
The international community cannot let this situation continue and needs to do everything it can to obtain a lasting ceasefire immediately, he added.

Moreover, the king said that the separation of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank cannot be accepted.

"The separation of the West Bank and Gaza can not be accepted," the King told reporters at the White House on Monday.

Earlier on Monday, the IDF said they carried out strikes in the Shaboura area of Rafah. Some 100 Palestinians were killed and more than 230 injured as a result of the shelling, Al Mayadeen broadcaster reported.
