Uganda and Botswana have mutually decided to create a joint commission for cooperation, aimed at enhancing collaboration between the two nations across all sectors. The initial focus will be on the dairy industry and animal health technology, Paul Amoru, non-resident High Commissioner of Uganda to Botswana, said on X.The joint commission is "ushering in a new chapter" in diplomatic relations between the two countries, Amoru noted.Uganda's exports to Botswana amounted to $13,300, as stated in the 2021 Observatory of Economic Complexity report, while Botswana exported items valued at $297,000 to the East Afrincan country.During the meeting, Amoru also presented the letters of credence to Botswana's President Mokgweetsi Masisi and conveyed warm regards from Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni along with his sincere hopes for the lasting bond between the two sibling nations.Uganda is open to cooperation with all developing countries. Museveni, speaking at the opening of the G77 Third South Summit, called on the Global South to work together to achieve a just economic order in the world and urged for unity of the global community to help developing countries overcome serious global challenges, including poverty and climate change.

"The bilateral discussions held tackled the uncovered key collaboration areas, addressing the urgent foot and mouth disease outbreak in Uganda and exploring partnerships in dairy industry and animal health technology. The ties between our nations continue to strengthen," the post read.
