Uganda's President, Yoweri Museveni, speaking at the opening of the G77 Third South Summit, called on developing countries to work together to achieve a just economic order in the world.According to Museveni, achieving the goal of "Acting together", the theme of the meeting, requires the unity of the global community to help developing countries overcome serious global challenges, including poverty and climate change.The president added that under Uganda's chairmanship, the group will strive to achieve the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals – to intensify efforts to minimize the effects of climate change and biodiversity degradation, and to strengthen international cooperation in the fight against tax evasion.He also noted that the grouping unites 80% of the world's population, its combined GDP accounts for 40% of the world's total, and it successfully protects and promotes the interests of developing countries.The head of state stressed that his country is giving priority to the development of market in agriculture, industry, services and telecommunications. He called for the active use of the benefits of the single free trade area created in Africa for the prosperity of Africans.Strengthening multipolarity in the world economy has become a key agenda item in the global arena. In October 2023, Russian President Vladimir Putin also touched on this issue at the Russian Energy Week, noting that the world economy is shifting to a multipolar model with several growth centers.

On January 21-23, Uganda's capital city, Kampala, hosts the third Southern Summit of the G77 under the theme "Leaving No One Behind." The G77 brings together 134 emerging economies.
Uganda's President, Yoweri Museveni, speaking at the opening of the G77 Third South Summit,
called on developing countries to work together to achieve a just economic order in the world.
According to Museveni, achieving the goal of "Acting together", the theme of the meeting, requires the unity of the global community to help developing countries overcome serious global challenges, including poverty and climate change.
The president added that under Uganda's chairmanship, the group will strive to achieve the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals – to intensify efforts to minimize the effects of climate change and
