On Thursday night, the US and UK military forces conducted a total of 23 airstrikes on various targets located in four provinces across Yemen. These provinces include the capital city of Sanaa, as well as three other cities, local government sources told Sputnik.
Ali al Qahum, a member of Houthi politburo, in his interview with Sputnik accused the West of “flagrant duplicity and blatant lies” as it demands that the Houthis stop attacks on Israeli ships, while “there is no talk of stopping the genocide and lifting the blockade of the Gaza Strip.”

"What kind of humanity and human rights can we talk about if we all see what is happening in Gaza now? The [UN] Security Council and everyone who stands behind it are pursuing a policy of double standards, systematically misinforming the world community [...] for the sake of implementing colonial projects and diabolical conspiracies against free peoples and those countries that opposed the US, Israel and Western countries," he told Sputnik.

Speaking about the recently adopted UN resolution condemning the Houthi attacks, al Qahum said that this was not a surprise, since the UN Security Council "only supports Western arrogance, unipolar hegemony and legitimizes the colonial actions of the West against the countries and peoples of the entire [Middle East] region."
Lastly, he assured that Yemen will continue its actions against Israeli ships in the Red Sea and ships sailing to Israel, and stressed that his country is committed to international law to protect international shipping in the Red Sea and does not pose any threat to maritime traffic. On the contrary, al Qahum said, it is Western countries that are "brazenly" violating international law on the high seas.

Houthis Will Strike at Maritime Shipping Associated with US, UK: Member of Politburo Tells Sputnik
On Thursday night, the US and UK military forces conducted a total of 23 airstrikes on various targets located in four provinces across Yemen. Russia strongly disapproved the attack as a "pretext for further escalation of tension in the region," the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, stated on Friday.
In November, the Houthis announced that they will destroy any vessel associated with Israel if it does not stop its invasion of the Gaza Strip. Weeks after, the United States declared the formation of a multinational operation, purportedly to safeguard trade in the Red Sea.
