The African land is rich in culinary talent: another local chef, this time from Ghana, may set a new world record in an individual cooking marathon.
Failatu Abdul-Razak, a Ghanaian culinarian, has managed to cook non-stop for 10 days in a row, which means she might become the next Guinness World Record holder in the individual cooking marathon.
She spent the entire time in the kitchen, allowed of taking a 5-minute break every hour; she prepared 153 dishes in 227 hours, according to local media.
The marathon, which began on January 1, took place in a hotel in Tamale town in northern Ghana. Several people came each day to support the chef and taste the food she prepared. On January 10, she left the kitchen to the cheers of the audience.
Before the culinary marathon began, Abdul-Razak referred to it as a "national assignment," and said she was doing it for her country. She added that she intended to make it "very difficult" for anyone to beat her record in the future.
At various points during the marathon, the chef received messages of support from various Ghanaian politicians, including Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, local celebrities, and even members of the military, the media reported.

Cooking Like Crazy: Irishman Unseats Record-Holding Nigerian Chef
If the Guinness World Records (GWR) confirms the Ghanaian chef's result, she will dethrone Irish chef Alan Fisher, who set the individual cooking marathon record of 119 hours and 57 minutes in November 2023.
The Irishman, in his turn, overthrew Nigerian chef Hilda Baci, who set the record in the spring of 2023 by cooking for about 93 hours.
Interestingly, another food enthusiast, Maliha Mohammed from Kenya, tried to beat Fischer's result in late November by cooking for 150 hours and 11 seconds. However, the GWR never validated her results.
