MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The escalating conflict between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas has killed more than 1,000 people in Israel and more than 21,000, mostly children, in the Gaza Strip and displaced millions since the beginning of October.
Al Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Palestinian movement Hamas, said on Thursday that its fighters had destroyed over 825 units of Israeli military equipment since the start of the latter's ground operation in the Gaza Strip.

"The number of equipment units hit by our fighters since the beginning of the ground aggression exceeded 825. Those include armored personnel carriers, tanks, bulldozers, military vehicles and trucks," Al Qassam Brigades spokesman Abu Obaida said in a video message broadcast by Al Jazeera.

On October 7, Hamas launched a large-scale rocket attack against Israel from the Gaza Strip, while its fighters breached the border, opening fire on the military and civilians. As a result, over 1,200 people in Israel were killed and some 240 others abducted.
Israel launched retaliatory strikes, ordered a complete blockade of Gaza and launched a ground incursion into the Palestinian enclave with the declared goal of eliminating Hamas fighters and rescuing the hostages. Over 21,300 people have been killed so far in Gaza as a result of Israeli strikes, local authorities said.
On November 24, Qatar mediated a deal between Israel and Hamas on a temporary truce and the exchange of some of the prisoners and hostages, as well as the delivery of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip. The ceasefire was extended several times and expired on December 1.

Israel Plans to Relocate Palestinians From Gaza to Egypt Under Security Pretext - Source
MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The Israeli government plans to relocate a significant number of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to Egypt under the pretext of ensuring their safety, an informed source told Sputnik.
"According to the available information, the Israeli government is making plans to relocate a significant number of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to Egypt under the pretext of ensuring their safety during the active phase of the military operation and post-conflict reconstruction of the enclave," the source said.
The first stage could include the relocation of at least 100,000 people to the territory of a neighboring state, the source said.
"In order to ensure the consent of Cairo, which currently categorically opposes such a scenario, it is intended to involve Washington," the source said, adding that in exchange for Egypt's consent Washington promises to fund the construction and operation of refugee camps.

Biden Holds 'Frustrating' Call With Netanyahu Over Palestinian Tax Revenue - Reports
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – US President Joe Biden has raised concerns with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about Israel’s withholding of part of the tax revenue that it collects on behalf of the Palestinian Authority, Axios reported, citing US and Israeli officials.
Biden raised the issue toward the end of a 45-minute phone call on Saturday and proposed that Norway act as an intermediary to safekeep the contested amount of tax revenue that Israel says would reach Hamas in Gaza, the report said on Thursday. These funds would remain with Norway until a suitable arrangement could be found.
A US official described the conversation as one of the most "frustrating" exchanges between the two leaders since the start of Israel’s war on Gaza. Netanyahu said he did not trust Norway’s proposal, while Israel’s financial minister has opposed releasing any funds at all. Biden insisted that Netanyahu accept Norway’s proposal, saying it was backed by the US.
The Palestinian Authority has refused to accept a partial transfer thus far. The White House fears this may cause the authority to economically collapse and further escalate the violence in the West Bank if the Palestinian Authority cannot pay the salaries of its security forces. A US official said the Palestinian Authority would accept a partial transfer if the remainder meant for Gaza was kept in Norway, the news outlet reported.

Israel's Netanyahu Cancels Cabinet Meeting on Post-War Governance in Gaza Strip - Reports
MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has canceled a war cabinet meeting that was expected to discuss Israel's plan for the Gaza Strip's post-war governance, The Times of Israel newspaper reported.
The war cabinet was expected to meet on Thursday. The fact that it has consistently ignored the issue of the Gaza Strip's post-war governance at its meetings has reportedly caused concerns in the United States, where officials believe that Israel's failure to clearly map out the Hamas-controlled Palestinian enclave's political future risks resulting in the indefinite prolonging of hostilities.
Netanyahu’s decision to cancel the meeting could have been influenced by his far-right coalition partners, who have rejected any possibility of the Gaza Strip going under the control of the Palestinian Authority, the newspaper wrote.
