In early June, Ukraine launched its much-hyped counteroffensive and quickly ran into solid Russian defenses and minefields. According to the latest data, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost more than 125,000 troops during the six-month counteroffensive.
South-African-born American businessman Elon Musk, the world's richest person, has agreed that Ukraine has lost territories to Russia "forever" in the ongoing conflict between the two countries.
Musk's remarks came in response to a statement posted by his fellow American-South African businessman David Sacks on the social platform X, where he suggested that Kiev should sit down at the negotiating table with Moscow to prevent further losses.

"Your assessment is accurate imo," the Tesla and SpaceX chief replied.

Who Is Responsible for Killing Last Year's Russia-Ukraine Peace Deal?
On Tuesday evening, Sacks said that Ukraine had lost the territories of Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk, most of Kherson and Zaporozhye "forever" and called on the Kiev regime to "negotiate a peace deal now" to avoid losing the more territories.

"If it [Ukraine] doesn’t negotiate a peace deal now, it will also lose Kharkiv, Odesa, the rest of Kherson, and more. The flag wavers who think they’re helping Ukraine are just dismembering it," Sacks wrote on X, which is owned by Musk.

Since the beginning of the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian conflict in late February 2022, Moscow has never refused to negotiate a peace deal with Kiev. However, Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree in September 2022 banning all talks "with Russian President Vladimir Putin."
