Passengers were injured when a Nigerian plane skidded off the runway at Port Harcourt airport around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, according to local newspaper Sahara Reporters. Although some people were injured, fortunately no one died.Later that day, the airport confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that crew and aircraft were "all safe" and flight operations had resumed.It is remarked that this incident was one of a series of accidents that have occurred in the Nigerian aviation sector in recent times.Thus, according to Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, on Sunday, an incident involving a Boeing 737 aircraft belonging to Aero Contractors Airlines made an emergency landing at the Abuja-based Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.Similarly, in another incident last week, a private jet owned by Flint Aero narrowly escaped tragedy when it made an emergency landing on a runway in Ibadan, Oyo State. Passengers on board, including the Nigerian Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, were unharmed.

Passengers were injured when a
Nigerian plane skidded off the runway at Port Harcourt airport around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, according to local newspaper Sahara Reporters.
“Value Jet Airline aircraft has skidded off the runway at the Port Harcourt International Airport, there are reports of injuries,” a source with the knowledge of the events told the outlet.
Although some people were injured, fortunately no one died.
“An aircraft has landed in an emergency way in Port Harcourt airport. While some persons were injured, no death was recorded,” the source added.
Later that day, the airport
confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that crew and aircraft were "all safe" and flight operations had resumed.
"Flight delays are being experienced as a result of an incident involving @flyvaluejet Flight VK226 from Lagos after landing. Pax, crew and aircraft are all safe. Efforts to tow the aircraft are underway. Be kindly advised to contact your airline for the latest flight updates," the airport stated.
It is remarked that this incident was one of a series of accidents that have occurred in the Nigerian aviation sector in recent times.
