"Russian President Vladimir Putin has held a telephone conversation with President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Abdel Fattah Sisi. The Russian president thanked Sisi for his assistance in the evacuation of Russian citizens and their family members, as well as in the delivery of humanitarian cargoes from Russia to the Gaza Strip, and wished him success in the upcoming presidential election in Egypt these days," the Kremlin said in a statement.

According to the Egyptian State Information Service (SIS) on Thursday, in total, over 11,700, including foreigners and injured Palestinians, have been evacuated to Egypt from the Gaza Strip via the Rafah checkpoint since the beginning of the entry of aid into the enclave.
"[SIS] Chairman Diaa Rashwan reiterated that Egypt is permanently opening the Rafah crossing for individuals and goods, and that any obstacles at the crossing come from the other Israeli side, explaining that since the beginning of the entry of aid into the Gaza Strip, 3,313 trucks of food and relief supplies, fuel and household gas have been entered, and 682 injured people have been received, 11,067 Egyptians and foreign nationals were evacuated from the Strip," the center said in a statement.
The only way to enter Gaza from Egypt is through the border crossing at Rafah. Since November 1, foreign nationals have been permitted to exit the Gaza Strip through the checkpoint; nonetheless, there are occasionally some challenges with border crossings.
The Palestinian organization Hamas broke over the border on October 7 and unleashed a massive rocket attack against Israel from the Gaza Strip. Israel shut off Gaza's supply of food, gasoline, and water by ordering a total embargo and launching retaliatory assaults. Israel said that its objective when entering the Gaza Strip on October 27 was to destroy Hamas fighters and free the hostages.
A compromise involving a brief ceasefire, the release of some prisoners and hostages, and the transfer of humanitarian supplies into the Gaza Strip was negotiated by Qatar on November 24. The cease-fire was repeatedly extended until ending last Friday.
