Vladimir Putin presented Gold Star medals to Russia's heroes at the Moscow Kremlin on Friday, honoring more than 200 military and civilian individuals who have shown exceptional courage and heroism.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has informed a participant of the special military operation in Ukraine and hero of the Donetsk People's Republic, Artem Zhoga, of his plans to run for a new presidential term, a Sputnik correspondent reported.
The announcement was made during an informal conversation between Putin and participants of the special military operation.
The head of the Russian Federation Council Valentina Matvienko said that she "absolutely" supports Putin's nomination.

Vladimir Putin has been elected President of Russia four times: in 2000, 2004, 2012 and 2018. After the adoption of amendments to the Constitution, he received the right to stand as a candidate in the new presidential election in 2024.

Vladimir Putin received the highest number of votes in 2018 (76.69%), and the lowest - in the 2000 election (52.94%).

Putin's current powers as head of state expire on May 7 next year. The next presidential election in Russia will last three days, from March 15 to 17, according to the Central Election Commission.
