Russia–North Korea Friendship Will Only Strengthen: N. Korean Foreign Ministry
MOSCOW (Sputnik) – In September, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un met with Vladimir Putin in the Russian Far East. It was Kim's first visit to Russia since 2019.
Friendship between Russia and North Korea will only strengthen in the future, and the United States will face a "powerful and coordinated response" if it attempts to disrupt stability in the region, the North Korean Foreign Ministry said in a statement distributed by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
"Relations of friendship and cooperation between two countries – Korea and Russia, striving for independence, peace and friendship, will unshakably strengthen and develop, and any attempts by the United States and its satellites aimed at disrupting peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and in the region will face a powerful and coordinated response from independent sovereign states," the statement said.
It said the US administration should get used to the "new realities of Korean–Russian relations."
In October, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov paid a
visit in North Korea. The trip followed the September visit to Russia by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu's trip to Pyongyang in July.
During the North Korean leader's visit to Russia in September, he traveled to the Komsomolsk-on-Amur aviation plant named after Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin and held talks with President Vladimir
Putin.
The Russian leader described the negotiations as "very productive," adding that there was a very frank exchange of views on the situation in the East Asian region and on bilateral relations.
