MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Earlier, the president of Iran, in an interview with Al Jazeera, defied warnings by the United States that Iran should not get involved in the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
The press service of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said Israel had crossed red lines, which could force everyone to take retaliatory measures.
"Zionist regime’s crimes have crossed the red lines, which may force everyone to take action. Washington asks us to not do anything, but they keep giving widespread support to Israel. The US sent messages to the Axis of Resistance but received a clear response on the battlefield," Raisi's press service wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).
On October 7, Palestinian group Hamas launched a surprise large-scale rocket attack against Israel from the Gaza Strip and breached the border, killing and abducting people in neighboring Israeli communities. Israel launched retaliatory strikes and ordered a complete blockade of the Gaza Strip, home to more than 2 million people, cutting off supplies of water, food, and fuel. The blockade was later eased to allow trucks with humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip. The escalation of the conflict has resulted in the deaths of around 1,400 Israelis and over 7,000 Palestinians.

Hamas Prevents Foreign Citizens From Leaving Gaza for Egypt – White House
White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan on Sunday accused Hamas of preventing US and other foreign citizens from leaving Gaza for Egypt to escape the conflict zone, adding that the Israelis and Egyptians have no problem with that.
"The Egyptians are prepared to allow American citizens and foreign nationals to come through the Rafah gate in the Egypt. The Israelis have no issue with that. Hamas has been preventing their departure and making a series of demands," Sullivan said in an interview with CNN.
He refused to elaborate on what exactly Hamas is demanding, saying that discussions and negotiations are ongoing.
The United States does not know exactly how US citizens in the Gaza Strip will manage to leave the territory, despite White House’s efforts to bring them back, Sullivan said.

The hospital, which is housing around 12,000 civilians, had its southern and eastern wings bombed, Al-Hadath news channel reported.

Forty Trucks With Humanitarian Aid Expected to Arrive in Gaza, More Needed - WFP Official
United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) Palestine Representative and Director Samer AbdelJaber said on Sunday that 40 more trucks of humanitarian aid are expected to enter Gaza later in the day, but that is not enough.
"We hope today we will be able to allow more trucks into Gaza, 40 trucks are expected to be crossing. However, we have to also note that that’s not enough compared to the soaring needs … We need more than that," AbdelJaber said in an interview with CNN.
Forty trucks of food per day are needed to feed 1 million people, while 2 million would require 100 trucks, AbdelJaber said.
The trucks heading into Gaza are carrying food, water and medicine, but not fuel, he said, adding that the weekend power outage in the Gaza Strip was a "major challenge" for WFP.

Israel Responsible for Protecting Civilians in Gaza Under Humanitarian Law, White House Says
Israel bears responsibility under international humanitarian law for protecting the civilian population in the Gaza Strip in both air strikes and ground assaults, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said on Sunday.
"It does not lessen their [Israel's] responsibility under international humanitarian law and the laws of war to do all in their power to protect the civilian population, and that's equally true moving in on the ground as it is taking strikes from the air," he said in an interview with the ABC broadcaster.
The United States will continue to ask Israel "hard questions" about its moves in the escalating conflict, Sullivan added.

"We unanimously decided to expand the ground operation, both in our war cabinet and in our political and security cabinet," the prime minister added.
Netanyahu argued that Israel's allies in western and Arab countries understood the goals of Israel’s war against Hamas and wanted Israel to win.

Sadr said it had been confirmed that Israel was responsible for the breakdown in internet and mobile phone services across the Palestinian exclave. He called the blackout a crime against humanity because it disrupted emergency services.
UN chief Antonio Guterres said earlier in the day that he had been concerned about the blackout cutting off contact with the UN staff who are delivering humanitarian assistance in Gaza.
