PARIS (Sputnik) - The first nationwide demonstration after the summer break was called by the labor unions, whose demands include wage increases against rising inflation, gender equality and better public services.
Tens of thousands of people rallied across France on Friday after the General Confederation of Labor called for a day of strikes and protests against persistent social inequality and the high cost of living, media reported.
Some 92,500 people protested across the country, including 9,100 in Paris, according to the French Interior Ministry's estimates seen by the BFMTV channel. The confederation put the total at nearly 200,000.
