CAIRO (Sputnik) - Earlier, Putin said participants of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict must think about the civilian population. He said Russia is ready to mediate the conflict.
Palestinian movement Hamas, ruling the Gaza Strip, said it highly appreciates the position of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

"We in the Hamas movement highly appreciate the position of Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the ongoing Zionist [Israeli] aggression against our people and his opposition to the blockade of Gaza, the cessation of aid supplies to it and attacks on civilians there," the movement said.

Hamas said it welcomes "active Russian efforts aimed at stopping Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip."
On October 7, Hamas launched a surprise large-scale rocket attack against Israel from the Gaza Strip, prompting Israel to declare a state of war the following day and launch retaliatory strikes. On October 9, Israel ordered a complete blockade of the Gaza Strip, home to more than 2 million people, cutting off supplies of water, food and fuel. Both Israel and Palestine have reported over 1,000 deaths and thousands of injured as a result of the escalation.
