The main goals of the military operation in Gaza are to prevent all possible scenarios of terrorist attacks on Israeli territory, Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Lior Ben Dor told Sputnik.
"The main objectives of the ground operation are to prevent all possible scenarios of terrorist attacks inside Israel, to eliminate all threats and to ensure security in our country for years to come. We are ready to confront the enemy on any front," the foreign ministry said.
The authorities noted that the option of resuming negotiations will arise only after the goals of
the military operation in the Gaza Strip are achieved.
According to the ministry, Israelis realize that a long war awaits them, and the country is ready for it economically and politically.
"The citizens of Israel realize that a long war is ahead for their country. Nevertheless, we are ready for it economically and politically, we are ready to pay any price to ensure a secure future for Israel," the foreign ministry noted.
