US entrepreneur and billionaire Elon Musk shared a meme on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, mocking American aid to Ukraine and criticizing President Volodymyr Zelensky for seeking further financial assistance. The image is a photoshopped version of a popular meme that goes by various names, including the "strained face meme," which was first popularized in 2014, according to Know Your Meme. This comes as Joe Biden signed a draft budget bill for the next 45 days urgently adopted by the US Congress to avoid a "shutdown". The bill allocates disaster relief funds, but does not include new financial aid for Ukraine's ongoing conflict with Russia, which has become a source of outrage among some lawmakers. However, President Biden noted that the House Republican speaker, Kevin McCarthy, would soon take up a supplemental appropriations bill to provide additional financial assistance to Ukraine. He insisted that his administration cannot "under any circumstances allow American support for Ukraine to be interrupted." Since the start of the conflict in Ukraine, the US has provided over $43 billion in security aid to Kiev. Russia has repeatedly stated that the continued aid to Ukraine only prolongs the conflict, and doesn't contribute to its resolution.

Elon Musk Mocks Zelensky for Soliciting US Financial Aid
13:35 02.10.2023 (Updated: 13:36 02.10.2023) After a series of meetings on Capitol Hill and the White House in late September, Zelensky reiterated Ukraine's intention to keep fighting through the autumn and winter this year. He said that the US should continue providing financial aid to Kiev, despite mounting calls in Congress to reduce or terminate the assistance.
US entrepreneur and billionaire Elon Musk shared a meme on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, mocking American aid to Ukraine and criticizing President Volodymyr Zelensky for
seeking further financial assistance.
Specifically, the meme features a photoshopped image of Volodymyr Zelensky with the caption: "When it's been 5 minutes and you haven't asked for a billion dollars in aid."
The bill allocates disaster relief funds, but does not include new financial aid for Ukraine's ongoing
conflict with Russia, which has become a source of outrage among some lawmakers.
However, President Biden noted that the House Republican speaker, Kevin McCarthy, would soon take up a supplemental appropriations bill to provide additional financial assistance to Ukraine. He insisted that his administration cannot "under any circumstances allow American support for
Ukraine to be interrupted."
