The chief Libyan prosecutor has launched an investigation into 16 current and former officials responsible for water resources and dam management over the deadly collapse of two dams near the eastern city of Derna. The chief Libyan prosecutor has launched an investigation into 16 current and former officials responsible for water resources and dam management over the deadly

"They are responsible for negligent execution of administrative and financial duties," the statement from the prosecutor general's office read.
The ex-mayor of Derna is one of the suspects under investigation.
