There have been no cases of diseases of epidemic concern or epidemic-prone diseases in flood-hit Libya, representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in the country Ahmed Zouiten said on Friday. Around 240-250 cases of diarrhea have been reported in the city of Derna that has been especially hit by the flooding, the WHO official stated, adding that these numbers are within norm for the city. The death toll following the floodings is at thousands and continues to rise as thousands more are still missing. Over 43,000 people have been forced out of their homes, the International Organization for Migration estimated on Wednesday.

There have been no cases of diseases of epidemic concern or epidemic-prone diseases in flood-hit Libya, representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in the country Ahmed Zouiten said on Friday.
"No disease of epidemic concern or epidemic-prone diseases [were] detected in the area [...] We would be there if something is to happen [...] but nothing has happened yet," Zouiten told a briefing in Geneva.
