Russian Air Defense Downs Two Ukrainian Drones Over Crimea, Says Defense Ministry
MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Early in June, Ukraine began its counteroffensive. Three months later, Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, said that the Ukrainian counteroffensive had failed and that 71,000 people had died as a result. A number of Western authorities also acknowledged that the Ukrainian counteroffensive had failed.
Russian air defense systems have destroyed two Ukrainian aircraft-type drones over the southwestern part of Crimea, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Sunday.
"On September 17, at around 20:30 Moscow time [17:30 GMT], an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack using an aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicle on objects on the territory of Russia was prevented. Air defense systems destroyed two drones over the southwestern part of the Crimean peninsula," the ministry said in a statement.
The ministry added that Russia’s air defense system destroyed a Ukrainian aircraft-type drone over the Belgorod Region.

Recently, Russian Security Council Deputy Secretary Yuri Kokov said that more than 70 major terrorist attacks, including on energy facilities, military and civilian aircraft, have been prevented in Russia since the beginning of the country's special military operation in
Ukraine in February 2022.
In early June, Ukraine launched its latest counteroffensive.
