MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Moscow is ready to further develop and strengthen partnership and cooperation with Zimbabwe, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Monday, commenting on presidential election results in the African country.
On Sunday, Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa was reelected for the second term with 52.6% of the vote, while his main opponent, Nelson Chamisa, leader of the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change party, gained 44%. Later, Chamisa said that he opposed the election results.

"Moscow reaffirms its principled commitment to the further development and strengthening of all-round partnership and mutually beneficial cooperation with the friendly Republic of Zimbabwe, as well as close cooperation in international and regional affairs," the ministry said in a statement.
