On August 23, Zimbabweans began voting for president and members of parliament. Besides incumbent Emmerson Mnangagwa, who started his first presidential term in 2018, there were ten other contenders in the presidential race.
Nelson Chamisa, leader of the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change party, who lost the presidential race to incumbent Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa, opposed on Sunday the election results.
On Sunday, Mnangagwa was reelected for the second term with 52.6% of the vote, while his main opponent, Chamisa, received 44%.
"We are rejecting the election … We reject this shame result and fraud process," Chamisa said during a press conference in the Zimbabwean capital of Harare.
