On August 23, Zimbabweans began voting for president and members of parliament. In addition to Mnangagwa, whose first term as president began in 2018, there are ten other contenders in the presidential race.
Incumbent Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa, from the governing Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front party, has been re-elected for the second term following the results of the country's presidential election, Zimbabwean media reported on Sunday, citing the electoral commission.
Mnangagwa received 52.6% of the votes, while his main opponent, Nelson Chamisa, leader of the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change party, gained 44%, the local media said.
