Uganda remains open to long-term cooperation with Russia in the military sphere, which it considers a strategic factor in strengthening security measures in African countries, Uganda’s Minister of Defense Vincent Bamulangaki Ssempijja has stated.He stressed that his nation maintains strong relations with Russia on the basis of openness and respect for the sovereignty of other countries.The minister recalled the words of Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni, who has recently stated that the bilateral relations are truly historic.Ssempijja outlined that Africa has received the support of the Russian people throughout the struggle against the system of colonialism, stressing that the Africans appreciate the frank and mutually beneficial relations with Russia today.The defense minister also stressed that mutual cooperation between the military departments of the two nations is a strategic factor that both sides should use to strengthen partner countries in their fight against security threats, to strengthen mutual trust and strategic relations.
