Since 2020, South Sudan's President Salva Kiir Mayardit has dismissed four finance ministers. In March, the leader fired the foreign minister. This dismissal followed the previous week's removal of the defense and interior ministers, who reportedly breached the terms of a peace agreement reached with the country's opposition after a civil war.
South Sudan's president has dismissed the nation’s Finance Minister Dier Tong Ngor, a media outlet reported.
Bak Barnaba Chol, an economics graduate, would take over as finance minister, the president's spokesperson stated, adding that Kiir frequently reshuffles his government as he sees fit.
According to the spokesperson, the decision was made due to a recent decline in the value of the nation's national currency, the South Sudanese pound.
