In September 2022, at the sixth meeting of the Russian-Congolese intergovernmental trade and economic commission, it was decided that it was necessary to sign an agreement between the two governments on a project to build a pipeline to supply petroleum products.
The Congolese government is working on signing documents to start the construction of a pipeline for the transportation of oil products with the participation of the Russian company ZNGS Prometey LLC, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Congo Jean-Claude Gakosso told Sputnik.
"The Republic of Congo is currently working on signing an intergovernmental agreement to pave the way for a convention on the construction and concession of the pipeline," Gakosso said.
The Congolese diplomat said the agreement was in the final stage of being harmonized, adding that "It is about the last step before the work starts."
The minister, referring to joint energy and mining projects between Russia and Congo, said that last year, the two countries studied in detail new initiatives within the framework of bilateral cooperation.

Gakosso recalled, among other things, the agreement between Russia's Lukoil, and Congolese oil company SNPC.
"It should be noted that Russia considered the option of partial cancellation of Congo's debt - up to 70%, the rest could be used to finance development projects within the framework of general agreements," Gakosso said when asked about the benefits of cooperation with Russia in energy and mining projects.
According to FM Gakosso, in September 2022, at the sixth meeting of the Russian-Congolese intergovernmental trade and economic commission, it was decided that it was necessary to sign an agreement between the two governments on a project to build a pipeline to supply petroleum products.
The minister noted that in March, Russian Ambassador to the Republic of Congo Georgy Chepik said that ZNGS Prometey had shown interest in the project from the Russian side.
