The Leningrad region or the Leningrad Oblast is located in the northwest of Russia, around the city of St. Petersburg. The region bears the Soviet name of the northern capital. The population of the oblast is over 1,7 million people.
The authorities of the Leningrad region are considering the possibility of cooperation with Angola in the supply of coffee, mineral fertilizers, training of specialists and in other aspects, Governor Alexander Drozdenko said during the Russia–Africa Summit.
As part of the event, which has taken place in St. Petersburg, the head of the Leningrad region met with the delegation of the Republic of Angola, headed by Foreign Minister Tete Antoniou. During the conversation, the parties discussed cooperation in the educational field.

In addition, within the framework of the summit, the parties discussed the supply of food – first of all, products of deep processing of the poultry industry.
"The development of relations with Africa is one of the priorities in Russia's foreign policy. The Leningrad region has many points of contact with Angola. The first idea today is to consider the possibility of reviving coffee plantations in Angola. At one time, the republic was among the world leaders in the production of grain coffee, and the Leningrad region now has the largest coffee factories that are interested in the supply of coffe beans. There may be good cooperation. The second topic is the supply of mineral fertilizers. In Luanda they are reviving their port, and it is possible to create a hub, especially since a transport corridor to other African countries passes through Angola," said Drozdenko.
As the press service of the regional administration specified, the delegations agreed to meet in the near future at a business mission, which will include representatives of various enterprises and educational institutions, in order to present specific proposals and developments.
