The President of Mozambique Filipe Jacinto Nyusi noted the importance of holding the Russia-Africa summit, appreciated the position that holding the Russia-Africa summit is of great importance, confirming Moscow's support for increasing the role of the African continent in world affairs. Nyusi confirmed Mozambique's intention to develop intergovernmental cooperation between Moscow and Maputo, noting "fruitful cooperation between our countries, especially in the defense sector, education, and mining" and "decent work" of Russian companies in his country.Jacinto Nyusi also thanked Russia for supporting his country's bid to participate in the work of the UN Security Council as a non-permanent member in 2023-2024. He also praised the dynamic high-level contacts between Moscow and Maputo, recalling, in particular, the visits of the Secretary of the Russia's Security Council Nikolai Patrushev and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.During his last visit to Mozambique, Lavrov expressed Russia's readiness to supply military equipment to Mozambique to improve the country's defense capabilities and aid in the fight against terrorism.

The President of Mozambique Filipe Jacinto Nyusi noted the importance of holding the Russia-Africa summit, appreciated the position that holding the Russia-Africa summit is of great importance, confirming
Moscow's support for increasing the role of the African continent in world affairs.
"I want to emphasize the importance of holding the Russia-Africa summit and [note] your speech this morning, which demonstrated the true goals of this meeting. I appreciate Russia's attitude towards the African continent, which, as we all know, and it was confirmed again today, is that we, Africans, should take part in the decision-making process," the president stated during a meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
Nyusi confirmed Mozambique's intention to develop intergovernmental cooperation between Moscow and Maputo, noting "fruitful cooperation between our countries, especially in the defense sector, education, and mining" and "decent work" of Russian companies in his country.
Jacinto Nyusi also thanked Russia for supporting his country's bid to participate in the work of the UN Security Council as a non-permanent member in 2023-2024.
"Your vote is important," the head of state noted.
He also praised the dynamic high-level contacts between Moscow and Maputo, recalling, in particular, the visits of the Secretary of the Russia's Security Council Nikolai Patrushev and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
During his last visit to Mozambique, Lavrov
expressed Russia's readiness to supply military equipment to Mozambique to improve the country's defense capabilities and aid in the fight against terrorism.
"Building on the existing good experience, we will be ready to supply military products required by our Mozambican friends, including those to ensure defense capability and beef up anti-terrorist potential," the minister told reporters after talks with Mozambican Minister of Public Works, Housing and Water Resources Carlos Alberto Fortes Mesquita.
