The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is set to send a delegation to Angola on Tuesday for peace talks aimed at resolving the escalating conflict with Rwandan-backed M23 rebels in the east, media reported, citing the presidency.
The talks mark a potential turning point as President Felix Tshisekedi considers direct dialogue with M23—a shift from his previous stance against negotiations.
Angola, under President Joao Lourenco, has urged an immediate ceasefire to create a conducive environment for dialogue, emphasizing the need to halt attacks on civilians and territorial advances. Despite these efforts, clashes continued over the weekend in the Walikale region.
