Russia's resilience against Western sanctions and its actions in Ukraine demonstrate the value of economic self-reliance and diversified partnerships, Dessalegn Masrie, PhD candidate in peace and security studies and general manager at Gizuf Digital Service PLC, told Sputnik Africa.
Masrie suggested that Western policies, particularly those of the US and its allies, often aim to maintain historical influence, which can appear as resistance to power redistribution in a multipolar world.
Historically, Africa has been put on the periphery, despite its strategic importance, he argued. The analyst cited unequal trade, interference, and resource exploitation as evidence of disrespect for African sovereignty. Masrie concluded that engaging with multiple global powers allows African nations to demand greater respect and equity.
