Ethiopia is seriously interested in increasing its coffee supplies to the Russian market, according to Alexander Dvoynykh, head of the Federation Council Committee on Agrarian and Food Policy and Management of Natural Resources.
"Our Ethiopian colleagues are seriously interested in increasing the supply of Ethiopian coffee to the Russian market. There is definitely a good prospect here: the demand for high-quality natural coffee in Russia is growing every year," Dvoynykh told Russian media.
Russia, in turn, considers the East African country's market to expand the volume of agricultural and food products, according to Dvoynykh, who is in Ethiopia as part of an official delegation of the upper house of parliament.
He noted that agriculture occupies the first place in Ethiopia's economy, and the country is very interested in Russian fertilizers. According to him, Russia and Ethiopia have positive dynamics in the trade balance, and "there is quite a big potential for interaction between the two countries."
"For example, the supply of flowers to the Russian market. Despite the fact that the volume of Russian flower production is growing, there is still a need for imported products. We believe that Ethiopia can occupy certain niches here," the senator said.
Summing up, the head of the Federation Council committee noted that Russian-Ethiopian cooperation is aimed at increasing the volume of mutually beneficial supplies.
