The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Congo has received a mobile monitoring and diagnostic laboratory from Russia to combat dangerous infectious diseases, according to the press service of Rospotrebnadzor, Russia's Human Welfare Watchdog.
"The mobile laboratory, provided by Rospotrebnadzor and equipped with modern Russian technology, will bolster the laboratory infrastructure of the Republic of Congo. It will enable rapid laboratory diagnosis of hazardous infectious diseases in remote areas of the country and directly at infection sites," the statement read.
They clarified that the handover of the laboratory is part of Russian-Congolese cooperation to fight infections. Over the past two years, equipment and tests have been provided to detect infections relevant to the region, and more than 60 Congolese specialists have been trained.
"This year, another 50 specialists will be trained in Russian methods of infection prevention and response. Additionally, Rospotrebnadzor, in collaboration with Congolese partners, will conduct a series of scientific studies in Africa on dangerous and endemic infections, as well as diarrheal diseases in children and adults," concluded the press service.
