US President Donald Trump's executive order on the federal funding freeze has not been rescinded and remains in effect, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said on Wednesday.
"This is not a rescission of the federal funding freeze. It is simply a rescission of the OMB [Office of Management and Budget] memo. Why? To end any confusion created by the court's injunction. The President's EO's on federal funding remain in full force and effect, and will be rigorously implemented," Leavitt wrote on X.
On Tuesday afternoon, a federal judge in the District of Columbia temporarily halted Trump's directive. The freeze was intended to allow time for review to ensure compliance with his strategy to rid the government of what he describes as a "woke" ideology.
