Egypt does not accept any attempts to resettle Palestinians on either a temporary or long-term basis, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said on Sunday.
"[Egypt] emphasizes the unacceptability of any infringement on the rights [of Palestinians], whether through settlements, occupation or the expulsion of Palestinians from their lands on a temporary or long-term basis," the ministry said in a statement.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced the possibility of resettling refugees from the Gaza Strip in a number of Arab countries, both on a temporary and long-term basis.
"I'd like Egypt to take people. And I'd like Jordan to take people," Trump told reporters.
Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich also said that he plans to develop a resettlement plan for residents of the Gaza Strip.
