Indonesia intends to actively participate in BRICS activities as a full member of the community, the country's foreign ministry reported.
"As a country with an ever-growing and diverse economy, Indonesia is committed to actively contributing to the BRICS agenda on economic resilience, technology cooperation, and sustainable development," the Indonesian Foreign Ministry stated.
The ministry noted that Jakarta remains committed to close cooperation with all BRICS member states, as well as other countries, in order to build a just and prosperous world.
On January 6, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, which on January 1 took over the rotating chairmanship of BRICS, announced that Indonesia had joined the association as a full member. The leaders of the member countries of the community approved the candidacy of this state at the summit, which was held in Johannesburg in August 2023.
