Ghana's President John Mahama has called for stronger collaboration in agriculture and greater African control over natural resources during discussions with President Nangolo Mbumba in Accra.

Mbumba this week undertook a working visit to Ghana during which he attended Mahama’s inauguration as president and held talks with the Ghanaian president.
The presidency, in a media statement on Thursday, said the talks focused on shared priorities.
“Africa must assert ownership and control over its natural resources to ensure sustainable development for its people,” Mahama stated, adding that closer cooperation in agriculture could significantly benefit both nations.

President Mbumba meanwhile lauded Mahama’s leadership, saying, “Namibia looks forward to learning from Ghana’s expertise, particularly in the agriculture, oil, and gas sectors. These are vital areas for strengthening our bilateral relations.”
Mbumba congratulated Mahama on his election, describing it as a milestone for democracy in Ghana, and extended an invitation for him to attend the inauguration of Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah as president of Namibia in March 2025.
