On December 23, Zeinab Bancé, an Ivorian chef with 17 years of experience, broke the Guinness World Record with 131 hours and 30 minutes of cooking, surpassing the culinary marathon record previously held by Irishman Alan Fischer (119 hours 57 minutes) since last year.
The culinary marathon took place in Koumassi, a district in southern Abidjan, and lasted five days. Bancé successfully completed her task, cooking for five days with a 5-minute break per hour worked and two hours of sleep per night.
Over this period, she prepared approximately 15,000 dishes representing 293 menus from different regions of Cote d'Ivoire. The prepared dishes were then distributed to displaced persons and people in need.
