Algeria is ready to support Burkina Faso in its fight against terrorism and to help maintain and preserve national and regional stability in the country, Selma Bakhta Mansouri, Algeria's Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and responsible for African Affairs, said during the meeting with Burkina Faso's President Ibrahim Traore.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed the current state of bilateral relations and the search for ways and means to intensify cooperation in various areas, including socio-economic and humanitarian, Algerian radio reported.
Mansouri highlighted the positive development of Algerian-Burkina Faso cooperation, emphasizing the need for both countries to further strengthen their ties.
According to non-governmental organizations, about 20,000 civilians and security forces have been killed by militants since 2015. About 2 million people have been forced to flee their homes.
