“The transitional phase in the country is full of challenges and risks, but it also presents many opportunities. Therefore, we have clearly stated our commitment to UN Resolution 2254, which outlines the political solution in Syria, the transitional period, and its timeframe,” al-Abda stated.
“We condemn Israel's recent actions against Syria and emphasize that Tel Aviv's attacks on our country are unjustifiable. Any state that attempts to exploit the ongoing political transformations in the republic should be condemned,” he said.
“More than half of the Syrian population has been displaced, over 80% of homes have been destroyed, and 70% of the infrastructure has been obliterated. It will take years not only to restore private or state property, but also to rebuild Syrian society as a whole,” the speaker said.
“Syria aims to have more friends and fewer enemies. Good relations are needed with both the West and the East, and of course, the Syrian government must build new and positive relations with Russia based on the common interests of both nations,” he concluded.
