Russia maintains dialogue with all countries in the Middle East region and intends to continue doing so, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday. Furthermore, Moscow has no information about the alleged execution of a cousin of the toppled Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Peskov said.Russia fulfilled its mission at the time, providing assistance to Syria, and spent a lot of effort, and Moscow currently would like to see an early stabilization of the situation in Syria so that it would be possible to reach the prospects of bringing the situation back to a legitimate course, the spokesman added.Peskov also commented on Israel's actions in Syria, saying that they are unlikely to contribute to stabilizing the situation. On Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the agreement with Syria on the Golan Heights reached soon after the Yom Kippur War (also known as the Ramadan War) of 1973 had become invalid, as the Syrian forces had left their positions. Netanyahu ordered the IDF to "temporarily" occupy a buffer zone between Syria and the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights.

12:15 11.12.2024 (Updated: 09:05 12.12.2024) MOSCOW (Sputnik) - On Sunday, Syrian armed groups took control of Damascus, the capital. Reports on Tuesday indicated that the Syrian opposition granted Mohammed al-Bashir, leader of the "salvation government" established by opposition forces, the authority to form an interim government in the country.
Russia maintains dialogue with all countries in the
Middle East region and intends to continue doing so, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday.
"Russia maintains dialogue with all countries in the region, and we intend to continue doing so," Peskov told reporters.
Furthermore, Moscow has no information about the alleged execution of a cousin of the toppled Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Peskov said.
"We have no information. Of course, we are now closely monitoring everything that is happening in Syria... We will continue to look very carefully, of course, and get out of the realities that are taking place on the ground," Peskov said, answering a question about whether the Kremlin is aware that Assad's cousin was allegedly executed.
Russia fulfilled its mission at the time, providing assistance to Syria, and spent a lot of effort, and Moscow currently would like to see an early stabilization of the situation in Syria so that it would be possible to reach the prospects of bringing the situation back to a
legitimate course, the spokesman added.
Peskov also commented on Israel's actions in Syria, saying that they are unlikely to contribute to stabilizing the situation.
On Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the agreement with Syria on the Golan Heights reached soon after the
Yom Kippur War (also known as the Ramadan War) of 1973 had become invalid, as the Syrian forces had left their positions. Netanyahu ordered the IDF to "temporarily" occupy a buffer zone between Syria and the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights.
"Of course, the strikes, the actions in the Golan Heights area, in the buffer zone area, let's say, they are unlikely to help stabilize the situation in an already destabilized Syria. This can definitely be said," Peskov said.
