Egypt and Russia agreed to speed up construction of El Dabaa NPP at the BRICS Summit in Russia's Kazan in October, the Egyptian prime minister said.
During a meeting with Russian state corporation Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly stressed Egypt's commitment to completing the first phase of the El-Dabaa nuclear power plant on schedule, highlighting its strategic importance.
Madbouly highlighted the importance of the El-Dabaa plant for Egypt's clean energy goals (42% by 2030), emphasizing cooperation with Russia to complete phase one on schedule. Likhachev thanked Egypt for its support in accelerating the project, citing strong historical ties between the two nations.
The first phase of the El-Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant construction is slated for completion in 2028, according to the Egypt's prime minister.
