Saudi Arabia to Host Arab-Islamic Summit on Gaza, Lebanon on Monday

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The intensifying violence in Palestinian and Lebanese regions, particularly the severe Israeli attacks on Gaza, has pushed Arab and Islamic leaders to act swiftly. This urgency was evident in their decision to convene for a follow-up summit in Riyadh on Monday, according to a Saudi Gazette report.

The heads of state and government and senior officials from the countries of the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas, as well as Lebanon's caretaker prime minister, Najib Mikati, are expected to attend the summit in Riyadh.
The Saudi capital also hosted a joint Arab-Islamic summit exactly a year ago. The leaders condemned Israeli aggression against Gaza, addressed the humanitarian catastrophe that it caused and reiterated their support for the Palestinians' right to self-determination.
