Whatever policy the US shall have for Africa, it is not actually meaningful for now; Africans have developed less interest in the American elections, professor Sheriff Ghali Ibrahim, a Nigerian political science expert, told Sputnik Africa.
He added that Africans don't expect a change in US policy towards Africa when Trump comes to power because hundreds of years or centuries of relationship with the West have not actually provided meaningful progress or development for Africa.
He believes that Africa is no longer content with standards dictated by Western powers and is instead actively pursuing a more equitable and balanced future within the international system. This shift is evidenced by Africa's increasing alignment with the BRICS system, which promotes peace and cooperation.
While not endorsing either US candidate, Professor Ibrahim believes Trump is a better option due to his promise to end the Ukrainian conflict, which he sees as essential for achieving peace in Gaza.
However, he warned of the potential trade war with China under Trump, which could negatively impact the global economy.
