Venezuela Close to Values, Principles on Which BRICS Work Based, Russian President Says

KAZAN, Russia (Sputnik) - Venezuela is one of Russia's historical reliable partners in Latin America and the world as a whole. The relations of strategic partnership between the two countries continue to strengthen, Putin said.

Caracas is close to the values and principles on which the BRICS work is based, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Russia's Kazan on Wednesday.

"I know that our Venezuelan friends are close to the fundamental values and principles on which the activities of the association are based," Putin said.

Venezuela is ready to accept investments and deepen its alliance with Russia in all areas of politics and business, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro stated at the meeting.

"As you know, we are ready to continue to accept Russian investments in Venezuela, to continue to strengthen our trade, to continue to strengthen the alliance between businesses in all areas, and to strengthen our alliance with the great Russia in all areas of politics," Maduro said.

Russia and Venezuela Need to Establish Financial and Banking Relations Based on National Currencies, Putin Notes

The relations between Russia and Venezuela will continue to be strengthened, the Russian president added.
"It is very important, of course, to establish relationships in the financial and banking spheres based on settlements in national currencies," Putin pointed out.
Russia and Venezuela seek a new world order without neocolonial approaches, the top official emphasized, adding that Venezuela supports Russia in the context of a hybrid war waged against it.
Russia also supports Venezuela's desire to join the work in BRICS, the Russian leader concluded.
