'Energy Cooperation in Multipolar World': Moscow to Host Russian Energy Week

The Russian Energy Week (REW) is an annual international forum, featuring thematic sessions and business dialogues, addressing issues such as technological leadership, energy efficiency, and international cooperation in the fuel and energy sector.

The International Forum "Russian Energy Week 2024" will take place in Moscow from September 26 to 28. The main theme is "Energy Cooperation in a Multipolar World."
The forum will feature around 30 thematic sessions and business dialogues, divided into thematic blocks.

"At the forum, issues of improving the efficiency of traditional energy resources amidst growing demand will be considered, strategies for the development of all areas of extraction and processing will be discussed, as well as the possibilities of low-carbon energy. The Russian fuel and energy complex plays a key role in the global energy market, so the decisions made at REW will have an impact on the development of global energy and the economy in the long term," noted Alexander Novak, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia.

Within the "Sustainable Energy Development" track, participants will discuss the role of hydrocarbons in energy of the future, the development of energy efficiency, and other topics.
Discussions in the "Technology and Data as the Foundation of Leadership" block will focus on the robotization of the fuel and energy complex, the use of artificial intelligence in energy security, and the prospects for the development of energy engineering.
Plans for oil extraction development, the coal industry, and electrification issues will be part of the "Development of Russia's Fuel and Energy Industry Sectors: Strategy and Regulation" agenda.

South Africa Seeks BRICS Countries' Energy Expertise, Including From Russia
Significant attention in the REW 2024 business program will be given to issues of international cooperation. Within the "International Agenda: Cooperation for Development" block, sessions dedicated to Russia-Africa energy cooperation, a meeting of BRICS energy ministers, the annual meeting of the BRICS Energy Research Platform, and discussions on global industry trends are planned.

"The REW 2024 program reflects the current challenges facing the industry today, including achieving technological leadership in the energy sector, its social orientation, and maintaining a balance between traditional and new energy sources to ensure the sustainable development of the country. Special attention is given to strengthening international connections within the fuel and energy complex and Russia's role in global energy [as] systemic changes in the world require new approaches to solving global issues. [...]" noted Anton Kobyakov, Advisor to the Russian President and Executive Secretary of the REW 2024 Organizing Committee.

The "Socially Oriented Fuel and Energy Industry" block will focus on the development of infrastructure, including changes in the distribution network complex, issues of generation, and the integration of industry innovations in cities. Topics such as the legal framework for the fuel and energy complex and the development of the country's energy system will also be addressed.

"The business program of Russian Energy Week will allow for discussions on consolidating the efforts of all participants in the fuel and energy complex, combining their competencies, developing unified standards, and forming an industry order, including the training of qualified personnel. The extensive international agenda of the Forum, including the meeting of BRICS energy ministers, is equally important for the development of the fuel and energy complex and shaping the new global energy landscape. [...]," emphasized Sergei Tsivilev, Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation.

On the opening day of the Forum, a scientific and practical conference, "Territory of Energy Dialogue," will take place. The main program of the Forum will feature business breakfasts dedicated to the future of energy. The main events will be held on September 26 and 27. The Russian Energy Week will conclude with the traditional Youth Day.
Additionally, the international "Global Energy" award will be presented for outstanding research and scientific-technical developments that contribute to improving the efficiency and environmental safety of energy sources for the benefit of humanity.
The winners of the international "Energy of Words" award, which aims to encourage journalists, commentators, and experts writing on the most pressing issues of modern energy, including the transformation of the global energy balance, the development of new technologies, and climate change, will also be recognized.
Russian Energy Week is held with the support of the Government of Russia, the Ministry of Energy of Russia, and the Moscow Government. The organizer is the Roscongress Foundation.
